Someone said that "The only thing we can take into Heaven are the people we bring there with us." What if that's what's meant by "reward" and "loss" in First Corinthians. This is what a good friend reminded me when I was once despairing what I see in the world around us and wondering if our lives of faith had made any difference at all. My friend encouraged me with his wise words, "The difference you and I made, being used by God, will echo in the lives of others through all eternity!!!" https://themjkxn.substack.com/p/wise-words

I actually find this account far more plausible and philosophically robust than the pearly gates/ wailing-gnashing binary. I envisage the heavenly "loss" has something to do with knowledge; Conscious awareness, to borrow a profound pagan turn of phrase; A great tidal wave that carries us back into the gnarled and twisted roots of that cursed tree.
