Fourth Sunday of Advent

A Poem

"Nativity"

To find you here,
slick with blood
and warmed by straw,
is not what we imagined.
We prayed for magic
and escape,
a cessation to our aching.
But here is answered
a question we were not asking,
reversing expectations
of grace and deliverance.
This strange exodus.
