From an evolutionary standpoint, power isn’t incidental—it’s foundational. Without hierarchies, social control, and the ability to assert dominance when needed, the human species likely wouldn’t have survived. Power has always been a sorting mechanism. That doesn’t mean it’s virtuous, only that it’s embedded in how we got here. Abuse of power is real, but power itself is not inherently unnatural.

So to speak of spiritual warfare is to name a fight that takes place on two fronts—within us and around us. We resist not only the State or the Church when they become corrupt, but also the gravitational pull within ourselves to seek control, to dominate, to “win.” That’s the harder battle.

Thank you! It's good to be reminded of how we are to live into this world and the need to be clear about what demons we see externally that also exist internally. Only than can we know reality, gaining our own agency to act with the help of the Spirit.
