Great question. Sin is sin. Paul wrote that sins against the body, sexual immorality, i.e. same-sex acts, pornography, out of wedlock sex, molestation, etc. are in a different category because they are assaults on the temple of God as established by Jesus. We, as a modern society, have done the gospel a grave injustice by putting sin in hierarchical priority. Jesus died for the nicotine addiction I have & the same-sex acts of others, for being short with someone when grace & patience was needed & for the child molester. They are all sins in need of a savior. “There is none that it good but God Himself”-Jesus
All sin hurts & strains our relationship with God. Paul & others referred to us as saints who sin, saints since our receiving Christ. There will never be a point in this earthly tent that we will not need The Savior. There will never be a point, at least on this rock, that He will not save us when we confess & repent yet even then, prior to confession & repentance, His love will pursue us to rectify our separation from the Father.
But neither are pleasing to God and both need the grace of Jesus again and again. As we go more and more into the life of God, we will not even ask which sin is worse
Is a homosexual act a worse sin than self-righteousness?

Not according to Jesus. He had a lot to say about the latter and nothing to say about the former.
