I hope you’ve having a blessed Sunday.
It’s unusual for you to receive a post from me on the weekend, but I wanted to share two in house things for my Substack readers.
The first is the simple confession that I am the world’s worst proofreader. On my original blog, Experimental Theology, still the source of this newsletter, this wasn’t much of a problem as I could fix typos as I discovered them or as readers alerted me. But with a newsletter, once that email goes out, well, typos are forever. Consequently, since the beginning of this newsletter a lot of embarrassing mistakes have been made. Last Friday, for example, the critical word “not” was left out of the final line making the meaning of that sentence the complete opposite of its intention.
I’m assuming that most of you see these typos and mentally say, “I know what he’s trying to say.” Thank you for your gracious, and regular, benefit of the doubt. And also thank you to those of you who point out the typos, especially the egregious ones. While I can’t edit or change the newsletter in your inbox, I can fix the post as it appears on Substack.
The other thing I wanted to say was a belated thank you to those of you who have pledged money for this newsletter. I didn’t know Substack had that feature until those pledges started showing up in my inbox.
For those who have pledged, I wanted to express my appreciation for your kindness and encouragement. It means a lot to me. But I also wanted to share that, even with offers of support, I won’t be monetizing this Substack. There are lots of reasons why I keep my writing free, but those are secrets best kept between me and the Lord.
Again, I hope you have a lovely day!
Richard- I just want to offer proofreading services if you are interested. I have limited funds so cannot support your work financially, but I edit other newsletters and would love the opportunity to work with you.
