That makes me wonder about trusting God for healing versus trusting modern medicine. If I got injured in a fall today, I would pray of course, but my "loyalty" to seeking healing would lie with doctors and hospitals, not the efficacy of petitionary prayer. Is that idolatry? It's common to hear these days that God works though doctors and hospitals and medical systems. And also that parents who avoid the medical system in favor of prayer when their children are sick or injured are foolish if not criminal. But let's face it. When people get injured in a fall, in 99% of the cases. petitionary prayer in not very effective whereas the medical system is usually fairly or remarkably effective. Surely God wants us to turn to whatever actually works when we have dire needs. (And of course, turning to Baal Zebub is not likely to produce good outcomes).
