Second Sunday of Advent
"Peace"
Hear, O Lord,
my prayers of malediction.
Receive these petitions of imprecation.
I confess in this asking
that my easy hatreds--
well-worn or freshly bleeding--
render me disonant
with the harmony of your kingdom.
So I set down
this incongruous offering.
Prince of Peace, hammer smooth
the sharp edges of my heart.

I believe we are all rough-hewn in God's eyes. Perhaps it is to keep us learning and receiving Him so we may grow in relevant ways.
