Humilty is actually fun! No more grasping for recognition, or striving for leadership and wondering why not me. The freedom to be kind to everyone I meet and leave a bit of joy and grace in my footsteps. Just resting in my identity as my Creator's daughter. I heard you on Dulaney program on the radio and bought The Shape of Joy immediately. Unusual for me. So impressed with you and the insights in the book on humility. Was it you who said "Humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less." It certainly seems to fit with the points you make about humility. Also, curious if you have read "Desiring God" by John Piper? In your book you make a distinction between joy and happiness but in his book he thinks the Bible uses joy, happiness, pleasure, delight fairly interchangeably. Maybe there is a psychological definition and then there is a theological difference?? Would love to hear your thoughts.
