"Well, you see, we have been duped into using the word 'myth' as being synonymous with 'a lie' because we have been duped into accepting the first real lie of materialism.... The hideous claim that there is no supernatural order to the universe. The materialists have imprisoned us in a world of mere matter, of physical facts - divorced from and devoid of metaphysical truth. I say that they are lying. I say that 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 are the ones who have come up with a false myth..."

In my Christian recovery group we talk about using drugs and alcohol as an escape. I see now that we have been using the word incorrectly. We weren't escaping our problems, we were deserting our posts. Others were marching into battle against immaturity, anxiety, and laziness. We were deserting the war. Deserters get shot. They are worse than traitors. Traitors at least hold out the hope that through treason they will gain a place of honor in their enemy's kingdom. Deserters are hopeless cowards--nihilists of the worst kind, without faith in God or themselves. Not willing to die for anything. Not even willing to pick up our cross, or rifle, and follow our leader.

“Denial” is another word that is often misunderstood & used as weapons to condemn & is a form of escape. In the “5 stages of grief” denial is one of the stages & is a part of the healthy process of grieving. Denial doesn’t mean we are void of the truth, it just means that the weight of the truth is being mitigated inside us. Ex. My mom passed a little of 2 years ago. I still can’t believe she’s not here. This is a form of denial. The fact that she’s not present in my life as she once was is true. The full implication & weight of this truth is more than something inside me can bare. Multiple things can be true at the same time even if they seem contradictory.
