In our later years my wife and I have been reintroduced to a couple from my wife's high school days who are devout Catholics. We have had a number of very open discussions on the particulars of our faith. I have always wondered about the emphasis on Mary and when I posed this question the first thing they did was affirm that there may be a little too much emphasis on Mary but when you really look at Mary (which our contact with them has prompted us to do) her life, her decisions, her blessings by God, her consent to be used by God I do think that we Protestants may value Mary less than she deservers. Think about it - Just to be chosen by God to have his son is quite a statement about a human being. I think we have so much to learn from her.
