From the time Jesus selected his apostles, the goal has always been "transformation" rather than "information". These are two completely different things. If information could truly be transformational, God would have just sent us the Book. But instead, we got the Person. That's because transformation primarily occurs in relationships with others.

In preparation for a career change, I attended a well-known seminary several years ago. I only was able to take two classes. One was a spiritual formation class. The other was a history class. The spiritual formation class was all about transformation of my thoughts, not information, or was great. The history class was all about information and not transformation.

I decided seminary was probably going to be more information than transformation. I knew I could learn and master the information but I needed transformation.

So, I didn’t take any more seminary classes and enrolled in a transformative discipleship program instead.
