The main problem, in my view, of engaging with politics as a disciple of Jesus is that politics is fundamentally about coercive power while Jesus is about love. The two can’t mix as they are antithetical to one another. The trap is to believe that if we can gain the power we can make people love, which of course, we cannot. That was the path of Anakin Skywalker. 😊

"This is the primary political task of the church, to declare the kingship of Lord Jesus and fallenness of the Powers." Are you open to any supernatural interpretation of the Powers (Divine Council Theology)? Not saying it's an either or question - rather that human political systems and fallen supernatural forces are intertwined.

I think Ephesians makes a point, that the witness to (and warfare against) the Powers by the church ist realized by living out a kind of loving comm-"unity" that the world cannot produce. If we don't struggle, fail, receive forgiveness and try again to love each other better... who are we to point to other peoples' problems while offering no construcitve alternative? Who would listen to such a hypo-critical prophetic witness, empty of prophetic vision?
