I honestly thought you were going to say Matt. 19:12:
"For there are eunuchs who were born thus from their mother’s womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He who is able to accept it, let him accept it."
He causes the rain to fall on the righteous and wicked alike. . . And he pays both workers the same, even though one worked the whole day and other just a portion of the day.
This really speaks to the question: "Was Israel really "special" and if so, why and until when?"
They were as much a nation of screw ups and continued to screw it up over and over again. I'd propose that their whole purpose (and that could be considered hyperbole perhaps) was for God to have a specified lineage for Jesus the Messiah to come through along with the prophesies of such that would then confirm and make belief in something so unbelievable possible.
Thus, when Christ was fulfilled, there was no longer the need to keep Judaism alive and that Israel wasn't "special" anymore.
